TikTok integration
This integration is not enabled yet. It is described here as it is intended to work, so that anyone deciding whether to authorise it can read what it would do before it does anything. Nothing on this page describes a connection that is currently live.
What it is for
Someone who posts short affiliate videos wants to know which ones worked. Doing that by hand means opening each post and copying numbers. The intended integration lets the account holder authorise this application to read those public numbers back for them, for videos they posted themselves.
It is a read-only integration. Publishing stays manual: a person posts the video, and the application only looks at what a viewer of that post could already see.
What it is intended to read
Only for the account that authorises it, and only for that account's own public videos:
- The account identifier TikTok issues to this application for the authorising user, plus basic profile information TikTok returns with it, which is used to confirm the connection is to the right account.
- The identifiers, links and publication times of that account's own public videos.
- Four public engagement counts for those videos: views, likes, comments and shares.
Those four counts are the whole of what is read about a video's performance. TikTok's read-only interface for a creator's own videos does not return other audience figures, and none are estimated, inferred or reconstructed here.
What it will not do
- It will not post, upload, publish, schedule, edit or delete anything on TikTok.
- It will not read private videos, drafts, direct messages, followers, or information about the people who watched a video.
- It will not read any account other than the one that authorised it.
- It will not act on behalf of anyone who has not authorised it.
How authorisation works
Authorisation happens on TikTok's own sign-in page, in the account holder's own browser. This application never sees, receives or stores a TikTok password. TikTok shows what is being requested before anything is granted, and what comes back is a limited token for the permissions that were agreed to.
Withdrawing authorisation
Access can be withdrawn at any time from your own TikTok account settings, using TikTok's own control for managing the applications you have connected. That control belongs to TikTok, and it works whether or not this application is running.
When the integration is enabled, the application will also release the authorisation it holds on being disconnected, and stop reading at that point. It holds no authorisation today. A request to remove information already recorded can be sent to the contact address below; how that is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.
This project is independent software. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or connected to TikTok, and nothing on this page should be read as suggesting that it is.
